A tall footed mabkhara in hand-blown Egyptian glass, crowned with a hand-pinched ruffled collar rimmed in gold. The body is engraved with a frosted blossom spray and banded in gold at the shoulder and foot, so the smoke rises through a piece that reads as an ornament first and a burner second.
At roughly 20 cm it holds a shelf on its own — which is the point. This is a display object for the majlis, the entrance console or the hotel suite, not something that gets put away between uses. It opens the bakhoor and oud customer to a glass range that otherwise stops at perfume bottles, and it gives Gulf and Ramadan retailers a handmade centrepiece at a gifting price rather than a novelty one.
Each burner is blown, engraved and gilded by hand in our Cairo workshop; small differences in curve, tint and gold are the signature of the craft.
