A flame-shaped cup on a gilded foot. The rim is pinched open by hand into a ruffled crown and traced in 24K liquid gold, so the smoke of the oud leaves through a collar of light. The body is optic-ribbed, drawn in from a wide shoulder to a narrow waist, then set on a flared gold-banded base that keeps the heat off the table.
Mouth-blown in our Cairo workshop from borosilicate glass, no moulds. The gold is fired into the surface rather than painted on, and every ruffle is pinched while the glass is still hot — which is why no two crowns fall the same way.

Craft: hand-blown Egyptian borosilicate glass, hand-pinched ruffled rim, fired 24K liquid gold on rim, waist and foot
Care: use a charcoal disc on a bed of sand or a metal insert; let the glass cool fully before washing; hand wash to protect the gold
