Five coloured trumpet flowers for a stopper — the showpiece decanter.
Baqa, “bouquet”, is a tall amphora blown in deep magenta, wheel-engraved with a wave of lattice and open blossoms, and set on a twisted clear foot. A ruffled collar edged in 24K gold sits at the shoulder, and the stopper is a bouquet of five trumpet flowers — ruby, amber, emerald, sapphire and rose — each blown and gilded separately.
It is a window piece and a wedding piece: too much for a shelf of twelve, exactly right as the one bottle on a console. Priced as a decorative object rather than a perfume bottle.
Each piece is mouth-blown and finished by hand in our Cairo workshop; small variations in shape, colour and decoration are the signature of the craft.
