Walk into any importer's office in July and you'll find them doing something that surprises outsiders: buying Christmas. By the time snow is falling, the season is already over for wholesale — the winners placed their orders in summer. Here is the timeline, worked backwards, and how to use it.
The maths of the Christmas calendar
- Retail peak: mid-November to December — your stock must be on shelves by early November.
- Distribution: allow 2–4 weeks to receive, unpack, and ship to your stockists → goods arrive at your warehouse mid-October.
- Sea freight from Alexandria: 2–5 weeks depending on destination → vessels must sail early-to-mid September.
- Made-to-order production: 15–25 days → orders confirmed with deposits by mid-August.
That is the whole secret: a November shelf is built by an August purchase order. Miss the sea-freight window and your only options are expensive air freight — or sitting the season out.

- Now: request samples of your shortlisted designs — judge the gold work and the weight in hand.

- By mid-August–early September: place the bulk order with deposit; approve pre-shipment photos before the balance.
